In this episode of the Family Before Fortune Podcast we look at choosing a meaningful career. Planning for your career and looking for a job doesn’t have to mean daily checking the want ads and going on interviews- it is about being aware of opportunities and open minded to change. So today I compiled a list of 10 things to consider when choosing a career

On my bookshelf:

Main topic:

The ten suggestions to consider as you choose a career:

  • Start with what you are good at-
  • Know your true potential – Take career profile tests,
  • What are you interested in – experiment
  • Assess your experience and background
  • Where do you want to be in 10 years? Building blocks and stepping stones
  • Enlist the support of loved ones part A – Ask those you know and love what they see as your strengths, what activities really inspire you
  • Enlist the support of loved ones part B – family connections
  • Always be looking – be aware
  • Assess the landscape – Do you see the trends?
  • Don’t worry- stress out or think this decision is the “end all”

Quote of the week: “What is the recipe for successful achievement? To my mind there are just four essentials: Choose a career you love…Give it the best there is in you…Seize your opportunities…And be a member of the team.” -Benjamin F. Fairless
